User flow
Coming into this project after the scoping phase and kick-off meeting, I was tasked with creating wireframes from various feature ideas from stakeholders.
Needing to make sense of how the various features would link together and how users would navigate from one to the other, I advised to design a user flow.
I created a detailed user flow that indicated various task flows, modals, and other interactions. This was a useful tool in indicating navigation through the multiple features for the user and the developers that built it.
Wireframes
I liaised with the client and other stakeholders on the user flow and after making agreed upon changes I created wireframes based on assumptions and best practices.
Challenges
Designing the financial roadmap to be flexible and fit in with user’s complex financial statuses was a barrier to the client’s requirements.
Solution
Well reasoned discussions lead to the agreement that a linear roadmap will be designed and tested to validate the assumption that a flexible financial roadmap will better suite the target user’s lifestyle.
Usability test
I created a prototype from the designs created by the UI department, which I used to conduct a usability test with to validate the designs and assumptions.
I created a screener to ensure that we test with users from the intended target audience to gain accurate insight into the app designs, features, and flows.
I created a discussion guide based on a set of objectives as well as the assumptions agreed with stakeholders and set up a success metrics to measure task completion against.
Leading the research, I guided the junior UX designer and researcher on note taking, consolidating, and report writing. I reviewed the report outlining findings and recommendations identified by the junior and presented back to the client and other stakeholders.
In this test we were able to validate our assumptions and found that what freelancers struggle with the most is finding freelance and contract work.
We agreed to pivot and create a freelance job directory instead.
